In our Hindu tradition, when a child is able to eat solid food at the age of seven month onward, religious private ceremony is observed to feed him/her the first morsel of solid food. The master of ceremony is generally is maternal uncle of the child. And my son now seven month is passing through this event.

The ashes of Bhupenda, as late Dr.Bhupen Hazarika was lovingly called by people of Assam, is being brought in an Urn to Tezpur for immersion, in the river Brahmaputra. With rest of Assam, we the people of Tezpur has become emotional and people rushed to pay their homage to the departed soul, with a resolve to follow & keep his work of humanity and brotherhood amongst all living being. His greatness, is in, whatever he composed and sung had messages of suffering of people and uplifting of downtrodden. So all songs or poems he wrote touches the heart of common men. Though your physical being is no more, but you remains in our inner hearts and will always be remembered.

Bhupenda as he was lovingly called by people of Assam, died at the age of 85 years on 05 Nov 11 at Kokilaben Dhirubhai Ambani Hospital, Mumbai. His greatness is he owned every ones heart through his composition of song & music. We will miss you, but will always remain in our heart through your many songs & poems..

Economic Support from Deepor Beel : Azara, Guwahati, Assam

A local villager is selling 'Makhanda' a type of fruit found in Deepor beel a very large water body at Azara,Guwahati. Presently Deepor beel can be a big economic support to local villagers if it can be used for tourist. In season various migratory birds visit this place. This Beel is quite rich in fish and other wild founa. Even wild elephants are also seen.

As a child in 70's I remember swimming & catching fish even during festival of colours Holi and Bihu, villagers & friends alike taking bath in a festive mood.
And present is a horrific to see at its end making away to human modernity.
