Its a great feeling of joy to meet a young friend 'Basu Das' at Tezpur. Since few month we have been unknown friends through Facebook . He is from Borpeta in Southern tip of Assam a young intelligent man & I been from Tezpur, Assam. We regularly chat on line but never hope to physically meet each other although the distance is around six hour journey by bus. How ever due to certain incidence I happened to meet him today 22/12/12 at Tezpur. And yes I am quite overjoyed.

To day being 13 Nov 12, Kartik Amavasya, Kali Puja is also being celebrated along with Diwali in our village & all along Assam & Bengal. Kali is the fearful and ferocious form of the mother goddess.She is having born from the brow of goddess Durga to save heaven and earth from the growing cruelty of the demons. Along with Dakini and Jogini, her two escorts, she set on her way to end the war between the king of gods & Asuras(devils) subsequently kills the devils. Kali Puja is performed essentially to seek protection against drought and war, for general happiness, health, wealth, and peace. It is a tantrik puja and performed only at midnight on Amavasya (new moon night) in November.

Till recent years in Assam & particularly we Assamese people never followed this "Dhanteras" puja before Diwali,however with passing of time & exposure through various electronic medium our people are slowly following the rituals of mainstream Indian ways. A good sign of integrity in this land of turmoil.

My memory goes back to railway journey from Tezpur to Guwahati via Rangapara & Rangiya here in Assam through Meter gauge rail tract laid by British. And with Gauge conversion the present condition of railway track at Tezpur lays to their glory days. I would loved to see what over that remained to convert may be kept as Heritage rail tract with one live Locomotive along with two Carriage plying between Dekargaon railway station & Tezpur station a distance of hardly 05 KM. People & posterity will love it.

Festival Bohag Bihu: The future

To day first Bohag as per our Axomia calender year (14 April as per English calender) which we celebrate as New Year. A month long Bohag Bihu festival of reveling is observed by us Axomia, conjuncting with season Spring budding of new leaf & flowers on plants after showers of rain, with chirping of birds & singing of cuckoo. A joyous moment & love every where. And my son now a year old & his second year of innocence to observe Bohag Bihu, (he was hardly 20 days old in last Bohag)as if asking me, Yeah, Whats this & Whats our future ? Yes, a question, that's I have seen evolving all around a drastic changes since my childhood & ongoing my other two daughters growing season. A vast generation gap building up due to constant bombardment of E- culture & seeping of international odds & even, social custom by profit making brands & company, not bothering the effects & toll that's altering the customs & society in masses. And controlling authority keeping a blind eyes to these changes in society. The effect could be felt, as our child today specialy in Assam, does not know its own history of existence, they show delinquency to know their cultural in-inheritances. A very dangerous sign for any civilization for its existence. I presume these trends is happening world over. But still as nature follows its own course like changes in season, earth quacks, tsunami etc. our only hope is in the word Love, which stimulate to live in harmony amongst various ethnic civilization internationally. So, my son whether we are here or not, follow the natural rule of Love & every thing will be seen in place. A happy Bohag Bihu / Rongaali Bihu to all people world over.
