Golden Jubilee Celebration : Goroimari, Tezpur, Assam


Today its 21 Apr 2014 and there is a celebration of rejoice in the residence of Mr. Jatindra Mohan Gogoi & Mrs Tileswari Gogoi of our village Niz Goroimari as it is their Golden Jubilee married date.
50 years ago on 21 Apr 1963 they both got married.
Offering prayer to god and thanking for the gift of this life. They are quite a happy lot with three married daughters, one well settled married son and six grand children. With respect I call them Uncle & Aunty. Now uncle being 76 years and aunty being 65 years are still active as good samaritans & leading social worker in our locality. They are loved & respected by all.
On this special occasion I wish them a happy golden jubilee and many a long happy married life. Pray god give them strength to live a full life year ahead.

Festival Bohag Bihu: Assam


Today its 2nd day of Rongali Bihu or Bohag Bihu festival here in Assam. The people today prays to god in Namghars (Community prayer halls)for betterment of society, humanity & world as a whole. Its not necessary whatever is shown in media wearing of finery Muga or Paat Silk cloth but the people in general wear new cloths ladies as well as girls in villages wear handwoven Mekhela Chadar (Two piece clothing) with Gamocha (Hand loom woven towel)on their neck. In the evening Menfolk, Womenfolk & younger generation go around singing Housori and Bihu song along with Bihu dance with the rhyme to beating of basic instrument Dhol (Drum), Pepa, Taal, Gogona and Flute.
The Orchid we revered most a symbol of love during this festival.

Festival of Joy: Rongali Bihu, Assam


Its the beginning of festival of joy the Rongali Bihu or Bohag Bihu in Assam. A festival of spring starting with Assamese New Year from 1st Bohag i.e. 15 of April as per English calender year. To day as is the procedure starts with washing & cleaning of cow herds and other domestic animal of household. And from tomorrow the New Year will be heralded by offering to God through prayer and later by local folk dance and sweets.
The most revered Seasonal Flowers of this festival season
Various vegetable component cut in pieces to feed & bless Cow & domesticated animals in the household
Young children are being encouraged to understand their heritage & customs
With natural water-bodies / water tanks being extinct in urban & sub urban area the washing of domestic animals are being done through bore well.

Election 2014 : Tezpur, Assam


Yes, at least waiting period of casting votes for Lok Sabha seats has started today i.e. 7 April 14 in Assam. The constituencies that has gone for polling are Tezpur, Lakhimpur, Dibrugarh, Jorhat and Koliabor.
The Schedule dates for polling Phase Wise Around 72 percentage polling turnout has been expected in first phase of election.
