The Fight by Son of Soil :Assam

A very sad happening in Assam, the incident of self immolation on 24 Feb 14 by one of the (son of soil) farmer in front of Assembly house in Guwahati, Assam.

The reason demanding land holding certificate by local Assamese people. The agitation is running since long. And stand off between Government ruled by Congress(I) and the agitated party has resulted to such happening.

The present government is partial in giving land holding certificate to own selected class and not to the desired public. Hope this incidence will affect the forth coming election in Assam. May peace return...

Rhinos : Good target for practice In Kaziranga, Assam

A very sad happening and recurring incidents. One horned Rhinos in Kaziranga sanctuary in Assam has become prone to target practice by poachers. The forest department of Assam seems to have become defunct as average one Rhinos being killed every month.

Today while traveling on NH-37 from Jorhat which passes through Kaziranga, I was quite sadden to see growing numbers of house roof of illegal settlers then trees & wilderness in the fringe area of the sanctuary. Also few roof tops are seen inside the sanctuary.

This is very alarming as most of the settlers seems to be of doubtful nationality. This can only happen with the blessing of political party keeping an eye for vote bank. I hope good sense prevail amongst different government agencies and political parties to save this world heritage site The Kaziranga.

Hate Crime : Racism in India

It seems nothing has changed in India on line of racism. The recent killing of Nido Taniam a 19 year old student from North East India (Arunachal Pradesh )has again showed how rest of India despise the physical appearance of people from North East India.

His crime is that he got flat nose & small eyes or rather Mongoloid look as we happened to. When we speak Hindi the phonetic Hindi word sound odd. This crime would have gone un-reported like many more had he happened to be from a common household.

I still remember when I was a 5th standard student in Delhi during 1972, I used to be bullied by my class mates for my physical appearance & for my language. They then used to consider us people as Jungalee and still they think we are Jungalee & outsider. The reason so was the policies of keeping North East India blocked from publicity & not including its presence in main Indian History text. How ever with this sad happenings the policies on governance, and writers/reporters will change towards this part of the Nation.
