Tezpur : Rudra-Pad

My visit to Rudra-Pad, another place of worship of lord Shiva in Porbotia at the bank of river Brahmaputra has disheartened me. I was surprise to see the natural foot imprint on the solid rock is now vandalized by over zealous devotees by constructing brick wall around it which makes hard to see thing. This has also lead to un cleanliness of the rock as well as the surrounding.
Legend says that, on hearing the demise of devi Sati at her father Dakhs home during a yag, where lord Shiva her husband was not invited lord Shiva got angered and started tandava and on that occasion a foot print was imprinted at this rock. The word Rudra means anger and Pad means foot.
The place is hardly 05 KM from Tezpur on a hillock and motorable up to the foot of the hill.
