Saudi Arabia Asks Militants to Assassinate Pakistani Officials

As reported by 'FARS News Agency,
TEHRAN (FNA)- Saudi Arabia has sent a secret letter to leader of the Hezb-e Islami political party Gulbuddin Hekmatyar to assassinate Pakistani officials, an Arab media report said. The Arabic-language Alwaie News said Riyadh has demanded Hekmatyar to stage terror attacks on the lives of senior Islamabad officials after they refrained from joining the Saudi-led coalition in the war on Yemen two months ago. "The Saudi kingdom has demanded the leader of Afghanistan's Hezb-e Islami to stage the terror operations in Pakistan to take revenge from Islamabad for its defiance," the website wrote. The report said Riyadh has demanded Hekmatyar to stage a series of terror operations on the lives of Pakistani leaders, figures and tribes, but declined to reveal any further details. Gulbuddin Hekmatyar is the founder and active leader of the Hezb-e Islami political party, and a designated "global terrorist" by the United States. After escaping from prison in Afghanistan in 1973, he moved to Pakistan. Hekmatyar voiced his full support for the Saudi aggression against Yemen since the airstrikes started over 80 days ago. He has also declared his readiness to join the coalition with his troops.

Kung Fu master Jackie Chan encourages future hope among quake-stripped Nepalese

As reported in 'Peoples Daily Online' : By Shristi Kafle (Xinhua) 12:17, June 10, 2015 KATHMANDU, June 10 -- Hollywood Kung Fu superstar Jackie Chan finds himself being more loved for visiting people personally rather than his donation of 5,000 boxes of relief aid essential for the quake victims. During his trip to the quake-hit Himalayan nation on Tuesday, the martial arts master realized the affection of his fans toward him as he distributed the relief supplies to the displaced families in the aftermath of the massive 7.9-magnitude earthquake on April 25. "I felt coming to Nepal is more important than donating money. I want to tell the people of Nepal that you are not alone. We all own this world, this earth," Chan told Xinhua. The international superstar had landed in Kathmandu's Tribhuwan International Airport to extend the support to the victims through his Jackie Chan Charitable Foundation in partnership with the Chinese Red Cross Foundation. He received a warm welcome and a lot of love was shown by the people of Kathmandu who were excitedly shouting "Jackie Chan, Jackie Chan" upon his arrival in the capital. They not only greeted the actor with flowers and a Khaada garland but also with a traditional Nepali cap known as Dhaka Topi. Though the news of his visit was kept quiet, it could not stop the photographers and fans following him during his tour. Such cheerful and at times frenzied fan-following, sent a clear message to the superstar that the Nepalese are full of positivity and high spirits, who can smile while enduring devastation and pain. He sees the love of the Nepalese fans as a symbol of hope for the post-quake reconstruction. The superstar, who was in Nepal for only a few hours, told Xinhua, "Disasters do not have a one-day recovery. It takes a few years so patience is necessary. The Nepalese people should not feel alone in this post-quake phase." The foundation provided 5,000 disaster relief family packages to the Nepal Red Cross Society for distribution in the worst-hit districts like Sindhupalchowk, Dolakha, Dhading and Nuwakot. Earlier, martial art expert Chan had already donated 100,000 Singapore dollars for the quake-victims of Nepal in May. This 61-year-old superstar gave the relief family boxes to the local people by hand. Proving his kind-hearted personality, he also hugged and shook hands with a few of the victims sitting in wheel chairs. At a time when this quake-stricken nation is moving toward a reconstruction phase from rescue and relief operations, the support of such Hollywood celebrities have strengthened the willpower of the victims for building a "better tomorrow." Krishna Gautam, a differently-abled person who received the relief family package from Chan in Jawalakhel ground told Xinhua, "We feel so lucky to have the support of such a kind-hearted person. It has motivated us to be more hopeful for the future." The death toll in the massive quake has already surpassed 8,700 people and hundreds of thousands of houses have been destroyed, leaving many more displaced and living in makeshift shelters. Amid such a situation, the visit of such a renowned celebrity has provided a sort of motivation to the displaced people to forge ahead and come to terms with the reality of nature. "We are moving toward rebuilding and reconstruction. In such a situation, the support of Jackie Chan is highly inspirational," Ishwor Regmi, project coordinator at the Nepal Red Cross Society, said.

Plenipotentiaries of the People's Republics of Donetsk and Luhansk made a joint statement about the wish of the two breakaway republics to join Russia. G-7 aims to stop tax evasion by multinationals

As reported in 'The Japan News' :
By Kojiro Sekine / Yomiuri Shimbun Staff Writer of 'The Japan News'. MUNICH — Leaders of the Group of Seven nations are set to agree on the creation of a system to counter tax evasion and tax avoidance by multinational enterprises, during the G-7 summit meeting to be held in Germany on Sunday and Monday, The Yomiuri Shimbun has learned. G-7 leaders are expected to adopt a joint statement that urges nations to submit to arbitration in regard to conflicts between them over tax issues involving multinational companies, sources said. The arbitrator will be a third, uninterested country. The mainstream approach to tax evasion by enterprises has usually been to create a subsidiary in a low-tax rate country and to shift profits there. Though companies assert that this is a legal tax-saving measure, G-7 nations see the practice as creating unfair taxation. Thus, the G-7 nations have discussed measures to take. The joint statement from the summit meeting is expected to incorporate wording to seek strengthened efforts for an arbitration process against tax evasion, they said. Nations involved in tax disputes maintain tax sovereignty as a principle, so they search for a solution through mutual agreements such as bilateral tax treaties. In many cases, however, it takes some time to find a solution as both countries insist on each country’s right to taxation, resulting in a situation that allows tax evasion. The U.S. Congress said in a 2013 report that Apple Inc. shifted profits to subsidiaries in Ireland, where the corporate tax rate is low, making the country essentially function as a tax haven. Google Inc. and Amazon.com Inc. have also been criticized for similar practices. The G-7 aims to jointly set as a core rule an arbitration system involving a third country in the hopes of obtaining understanding from emerging nations. However, such emerging nations as India and China are said to have negative views on the idea as they consider an arbitration system with a third party as interfering in sovereignty. The Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development is to draw up rules for the system based on the G-7’s joint statement. The rules are to be set out at a Group of 20 summit to be held in November.Speech

Afghan Taliban, female lawmakers hold talks

As reported in 'The Japan News' : The Associated Press
In this Sept. 11, 2005, file photo, Shukria Barakzai, then an independent candidate for parliament, visits day laborers during her campaign in Kabul. The Associated Press KABUL (AP) — Taliban representatives have held unprecedented meetings with a large delegation of Afghan women in Norway’s capital this week, an apparently incremental step in efforts to end a bitter 14-year war that has killed thousands, officials said Friday. Though striking, it remains unclear whether such meetings can bridge the chasm between rhetoric and reality as insurgents continue to threaten and kill women seeking education and employment as a constitutional right in Afghanistan. At least nine prominent Afghan women, including five lawmakers and high-profile rights advocates, traveled to Oslo for the talks with Taliban men — members of a failed regime notorious for its brutalization of women. The talks are not likely to have been a meeting of the minds — at least two of the women participants have survived assassination attacks by militants and most of the women at the Oslo meetings are likely to have experienced threats and harassment by men. While the meetings were informal, they signal a potential for the Taliban to shift on hard-line positions to facilitate an eventual dialogue with the Afghan government. They also highlight fears among Afghan women about just what the Kabul administration might be prepared to sacrifice to end the war, once a formal dialogue begins. The talks were part of the Norwegian government efforts to broker peace in Afghanistan. Both Taliban members and Afghan officials confirmed the talks but offered little details, speaking on condition of anonymity because of the nature of the meetings. “This meeting with the opposition is not a formal peace dialogue,” the Taliban said in a statement distributed to media. At least five female lawmakers, including prominent women’s rights advocates Fawzia Koofi and Shukria Barakzai, took part, attending as “independent representatives” from parliament, one of the Afghan officials said. “They are not part of any [Afghan] government initiative, and were invited to an unofficial meeting, not as official delegates,” he said. At least three of the women are members of the government’s High Peace Council negotiating body, and one is a women’s education activist, other Afghan officials said. Their recent statements have been perceived as a softening of opposition to women learning and working, though Heather Barr, a senior researcher on women’s rights at Human Rights Watch, said actions continue to speak louder than words and that there is a “massive disconnect between what the Taliban” say and what they do. “They come out with great rhetoric which some people are willing to accept because they want to see a ‘changed’ Taliban in terms of a victory after so many years of war,” she said. But she also noted the Taliban use of vague language, terms such as “principles of Islam” when referring to women’s rights.Speech
