Simple food habit - III

Rice bear 'Laaou paani' in Asomia, served with barbecue, fried duck meat etc. A local Asomia drink prepared from rice and herbal plants. This drink is strong and served in Ahom, Missing, Bodos,Karbis and other tribal populace of Assam and North East India. The name of the drink may be different according to ethnic dialect amongst people.

Simple food habit - II

Steamed fish in Banana leaf. Add, green coriander leaf, pepper powder, salt, green chilly, onion and lemon to taste. This is a simple dish in all Asomia house hold.

Barbecue is always a common food habit amongst, Asomia specialy with Ahom,Bodos,Mising,Phakial,Chutia,Motok,Mikir,Dimasa,Karbi communities.

Devotion

The altar for sacrifice. This is 'Maai thaan' as locally known. It's chief deity is 'Maa Durga' or 'Shakti'. This temple is located in 'Kolibaari' Tezpur, Asom.An ancient temple now renovated. Ancient history state that human sacrifice was done at this temple. How ever presently animal (Goat) sacrifice is given.

Bohag(Spring) : Orchid - V

This is another variety of Orchid 'Kopouful' this blooms on the last part of Asomia calender month 'Bohag' and at the starting of Asomia month 'Jeth'(from 12 Apr onwards)

In Bihu festival we have various local sports this one is 'Egg fight'. Specially 'Duck Egg' are used for this sports. The winner takes away the loser's Egg.
