I thank almighty, to give me an opportunity to visit, the famous dargah of Ajan Fakir or Ajan Pir or Hazrat Shah Miran or Shah Milan located at Saraguri Sapori, in Sibsagar, Assam.Though he was a Muslim (Sufi Syed) preacher he is till date highly revered by both Muslim and Hindus in Assam, India. He came from Baghdad at around 1634 and probably died in 1690.
He adopted Assam and learned Asomia language and married local Asomia woman.
He preached his teaching in Asomia language through Zikir and Zari a musical form he developed from then existing traditional Hindu devotional songs.
