British museum invites dancer
British museum invites dancer: Dancer-researcher Menaka P.P. Bora announces the news of the invitation she received from the British Museum of London to lecture and perform Xattriya - Assam's only classical dance form - re-enacting the story of Lord Krishna's childhood in Vrindavan, Uttar Pradesh, depicted in Assam's 16th century 9m tapestry - Vrindavani vastra. Given by a correspondent of The Times magazine to the British museum, Vrindavani vastra was a rare drape woven by skilled Assamese weavers under the supervision of the medieval Vaishnavite saint Srimanta Xankardeb and his chief disciple, Madhavdeb.
