First anniversary of Mising Autonomous Council


As reported in local English Daily 'The Assam Tribune' : DHEMAJI, Nov 21 – The present elected body of the Mising Autonomous Council (MAC) completed one year of its formation on November 6. Ceremonies on this occasion were organised separately in all the 34 constituencies of the MAC on that day. The office and the people of the No. 15 Gogamukh constituency, where the head office of the MAC is situated, celebrated the day at Gogamukh Abatani Latta with great enthusiasm. The ceremony began with a cleanliness drive in the morning with the participation of the activists of the Gogamukh Anchalik-based units of the TMPK, MMK and TMMK. The newly-built building of the Gogamukh Senior Girls’ College was inaugurated by Rama Pait, executive councillor of No. 15 Gogamukh constituency. A number of senior citizens were felicitated by the MAC in the ceremony. An open meeting was later held with Dimbeswar Doley, president of the celebration committee, in the chair. The meeting was attended by several dignitaries including Kalinath Panging, secretary, Mising Agom Kebang, retired principal Mukhyanath Patir, Thagiram Gogoi, principal, Gogamukh College, Ranjit Gogoi, principal, Gogamukh HS School, health officer Dr Prafulla Chayengia, Dr Nirmal Sonowal and Bhimkanta Pegu, OC, Gogamukh Police Station. The day was also celebrated on the Gogamukh Mahari Camp High School premises covering the No. 17 Mingmang constituency of the Mising Autonomous Council. On the occasion, tree plantation was done in the morning, which was initiated by forest officer Pradeep Doley. The open meeting held on the occasion was presided over by retired teacher Jogen Mili. The meeting was attended by Paramananda Chayengia, chairman, MAC, as the chief guest. Addressing the gathering, Chayengia said that the newly-elected MAC was doing work for the development of the Mising- inhabited areas. He added that as the areas inhabited by the Mising people are very backward, it would take time to usher in development to the expected level. He called upon the people to cooperate with the MAC in a positive manner.
