GUWAHATI, March 31 - Tibetan spiritual leader the Dalai Lama will grace the concluding function of the platinum jubilee celebration of The Assam Tribune and golden jubilee of Dainik Asam to be held tomorrow at the Pragjyoti ITA Centre for Performing Arts auditorium, Machkhowa here from 1 pm.
The spiritual leader will also deliver a public talk on ‘A Human Approach to World Peace’, followed by a question and answer session, where the participants can interact with the Dalai Lama.
The spiritual guru, on a 12-day visit to the Northeast, will reach Guwahati tomorrow, and the Assam Tribune Group’s function is the first on his itinerary, followed by another public talk in Gauhati University on April 2 at 9:30 am. The programme has been organised by the Krishna Kanta Handiqui State Open University (KKHSOU) and the city-based publishing house Lawyer’s Book Stall, where the Dalai Lama will speak on ‘Ancient Indian Knowledge in Modern Times’ and will also release an Assamese version of his first autobiography My Land and My People. He is also expected to take part in the Namami Brahmaputra programme in Guwahati on April 2.
The next day, the spiritual leader will address a gathering at Dibrugarh University.
From April 4, the Dalai Lama will be in Arunachal Pradesh, where he will consecrate a new Tara Temple at Lumla in the morning.
In the morning of April 5 and 6, he will give teachings on Kamalashila’s the Middling States of Meditation and Gyalsey Thokme Sangpo’s thirty-seven practices of a Bodhisattva. On April 7, the Dalai Lama will confer the Rinzin Dhondup initiation at Yiga Choezin.
On April 10, the Tibetan spiritual leader will give teachings on Geshe Langri Thangpa’s Eight Verses of Training the Mind and Guru Yoga, and confer the Avalokiteshvara Permission in the morning at Thupsung Dhargyeling Monastery.
A teaching session in Bomdila of Arunachal Pradesh has also been scheduled on April 11, where he will confer a White Tara Long Life Empowerment in the morning at the Buddha Park. The Northeast visit of the Dalai Lama will culminate with a teaching session in Itanagar on April 12 at Thupten Gatsal Ling.
